Children’s Programming

Trained, experienced nursery staff is available to care for your child(ren) ages 6 weeks to three years during both worship services at Indian Run.
Our competent, caring staff and loving volunteers provide a clean, safe environment for infants and toddlers. Parents are then free to attend worship, participate in a small group or Sunday school class, or volunteer their time within the church knowing that their children are happy and well cared for in our nursery.
In the nursery, your child(ren) will have many opportunities to interact with other children, play with toys and hear about how God loves them. We provide age appropriate toys, puzzles, books, music and crafts.
Grace Place
During both services, children age 3 to 4th grade will experience God’s word through an exciting curriculum including Bible story, games, activities, creative writing, drawing projects and music. To provide you the opportunity to choose the service that best fits your schedule, the curriculum is repeated at both services.
Your child will experience God’s teachings like never before!
At Indian Run, we use “Orange” curriculum for our Sunday morning programming. We believe that the two most important influences in a child’s life are home and church. Orange helps us to support you along the journey of raising your children.
On the first Sunday of each month, the children will leave Grace Place early to return to the Sanctuary to receive Holy Communion with their family.
Sunday Morning Check In, Drop Off & Pick Up Process
All children, ages 6 weeks – 4th grade participating in Sunday Morning Programming at Indian Run must complete a Children’s Ministry Registration Form and check in at the Welcome Center. This will help our staff and volunteers to keep your child safe during their time at Indian Run. Upon arrival, stop by the Welcome Center. After registration, families are given a unique card to allow you to quickly check in to the system in the future. At check in, each child will receive a name tag and parents will receive a Safe Sanctuary Card that will be needed to pick up your child at the end of the service. Should your child require your assistance during the service, your Safe Sanctuary Card # will flash on the screen to alert you to slip out of the service. All children, ages 6 weeks to 3 years old can check in and be taken to the Nursery anytime prior to 10 minutes before the start of the service. A member of the Welcome Team can assist you with dropping off your child for the first time. All children, ages 3 – 6th grade attending Grace Place will accompany you into the sanctuary and sit with you for the first part of the service. Grace Place volunteers will lead them to their classrooms at the appropriate time during the service. At the end of each service, please take your Safe Sanctuary Card to the Nursery / Education Wing to pick up your child. See an usher for assistance.
K4J (Kids For Jesus) is the faith enrichment program for children in 3rd through 6th grades. Following the school calendar, it is a four year precursor to the Student Ministries Confirmation Program which takes place in 7th grade. These four, grade-level groups provide the opportunity for socializing with friends, learning the Word of God, Christian values, and the principle of prayer as a foundation for formally declaring their own faith at Confirmation. Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a special time for both the children and the congregation at Indian Run. During one week in the summer, it’s a great way for kids ages 4-5th grade to learn about the Bible, God and Jesus’ teachings with their friends! The whole community is invited to join us as we learn Bible stories, play games, create crafts, make outreach projects, play games, sing songs and enjoy snacks together! Check back for details on this summer’s VBS!
Safe Sanctuary
Indian Run is a safe place. We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all who participate in our ministries. We abide by the West Ohio Conference Safe Sanctuary Policies which sets forth procedures for all of those serving in our ministries, including paid and unpaid, to ensure the physical, emotional and spiritual safety of all of our children, youth and vulnerable adults. A copy of our
policy is available at the information
center near the church office.
Servant Opportunities
It takes many hands and willing hearts to support our children and their programs at IRUMC! We want to show them that God cares for them and so do you! As a congregation, we are partners in the Christian education of all children who attend Indian Run. You are encouraged and invited to serve on Sunday mornings in Children’s Ministries. All teens through senior citizens and everyone in between are welcome to serve! No special skills are needed! (We will ask you to complete paperwork in accordance with our safe sanctuary policy.)
